I've had lots of vacation  troubles concerning flights (I'm in Philadelphia with a cancelled flight!) and haven't been able to post. This is a short one, but it'll have to do until Sunday... ok?\

The newly formed  Nijima Island (born November 20, 2013) has recently fused with an existing volcanic island! National Geographic reports that it takes on a cartoonish look, now somewhat resembling Snoopy from Peanuts.

#003: Roppongi Illuminations!!

Christmas Illuminations have become very popular in Japan, starting in 1995 with the Kobe Luminarie, then moving to other places around the country. Now, with the center being Tokyo, each ward has their own decoration and tree lighting.  To this day, Roppongi Hills creates one of the most spectacular light shows in the country. You can view the Subtokyo video for the illuminations here.
