#021: Marimo!

Japan Fan Post #021

First off, sorry for the late post, I had plans on Sunday, part of which were to secure my trip to Japan! YAY! Anyway...

Marimo, known as Aegagropila linneai, are a type of algae found in some parts of Alaska and Japan. They are known for their soft look and cute shape. They are a protected species in Japan as well as in Iceland, where they are very hard to find. There is a marimo festival in Hokkaido where the indigenous people, the Ainu help out the species. Thanks for reading!

#017: My Favorite Ramen Shops in NYC + History Lesson

Japan Fan Post #017

I traveled to NYC this weekend (hence the late post) and decided I would eat Japanese food for every one of my meals. Well, okay, not breakfast. Sadly, there were no Japanese breakfast places at all. Strange. I also happened to stumble upon Katagiri, the U.S's oldest Japanese specialty supermarket, which opened in 1907. Visit! Thanks for reading!

Also, there's a typo in #1. "proved its legitimacy with the tonkotsu ramen featured in the menu."
Sorry!
